We are working on version 3 of Hyvor Talk.<ul><li>It completely removes the iframe, which, we reckon, will the increase performance of the comments section, and will also fix numerous issues we have because of the iframe (such as content jumping).</li><li>The new comments embed is based on Web Components and Shadow DOM.</li><li>We are making Hyvor Talk more customizable - not only texts, but also components.</li><li>We are improving the accessibility of the comments section.</li></ul>Our plan is to release it within the next 2 weeks (update: taking longer than expected as we decided to re-design the backend too, ETA early november).

Currently, the Hyvor Talk embed renders inside an iframe. The main reason I used an iframe for the embed was to share Hyvor login between websites. For example, when you are logged into Hyvor, you can comment on any website that uses Hyvor Talk without having to log in separately.However, recently all major browsers started to block third-party cookies. So, sharing the login is not possible. Therefore, there's no use in having the iframe.And, the iframe introduces a bunch of problems.<ul><li>We have to resize the iframe on every DOM change, which means more CPU is used. Even so, the height is not perfect.</li><li>The popular jumping problem. Many users have reported the jumping problem when loading real-time comments. We haven't been able to fix this even though we tried several possible solutions. This is because we cannot control the scroll of the parent window based on iframe changes. We have to go through the postMessage API and it is async, so it takes time. Therefore, the jumping issue is still there.</li><li>The iframe becomes VERY slow when there are thousands of comments loaded.</li><li>Iframes are slow by nature. Rendering comments directly on the website will be a huge</li></ul>Here are some problems we will have to solve<ul><li>Possible class name clashes. We'll probably prefix all classes with something like 'ht-'</li></ul>More possible features:<ul><li>We can make all language strings customizable!</li><li>No more need of loading fonts separately from CDNs. Fonts can be inherited from your website.</li><li>Adding custom CSS is easy. You just have to add it to your website.</li></ul>This will be a BREAKING change. So, my idea is to develop the new version completely separately and then allow users to switch to the new version only if they want.Happy to know your feedback!

I've had a few users ask me how to view their own comments. It used to be they could click their avatar, and quickly view all their own comments. Now there's no intuitive way for them to do that. Easier, intuitive way for users to view their own comments

Some users are complaining of various minor issues. Things like:<ul><li>Problems logging in, for example they can login on their laptop but not their phone</li><li>Being told their email is invalid when they try to login</li><li>Comments not publishing, but when they refresh the comments do show</li><li>Comments appearing twice when you publish but ok when you refresh</li></ul>I think you need to work on the stability of the embed and test it on more platforms.I would sign up for<a target="_blank" rel="noopener noreferrer nofollow" class="text-blue-400 dark:text-blue-300 cursor-pointer" href="https://www.browserstack.com/">https://www.browserstack.com/</a>or <a target="_blank" rel="noopener noreferrer nofollow" class="text-blue-400 dark:text-blue-300 cursor-pointer" href="https://www.lambdatest.com/online-browser-testing">https://www.lambdatest.com/online-browser-testing</a>And get one of the test to test comments on different devices. In particular test it on older ipads/iphones and android phones.

If an image is larger than the plan limits, we will try to make it smaller using <a target="_blank" rel="noopener noreferrer nofollow" class="text-blue-400 dark:text-blue-300 cursor-pointer" href="https://github.com/GoogleChromeLabs/squoosh">squoosh</a>. This will not increase the size of Hyvor Talk because that library won’t load until the user uploads an image larger than the max upload size.

The emoji sheet used currently is 7MB large, and those emojis are not high quality. So, change it to use OS emojis instead. Saves data, looks pretty ;)

On our site we sometimes get very long comments. A few users complain that with hyvor when they are writing a comment, take a break to do something else, when they come back to the comment the text has disappeared. Is there any way to save text before it’s published? Can it not be stored in the local browser session?

Hello, I tried using hyvor with next.js and Im having problem on making it work, it does load on the first page but when I go to another page it wont load anymore and I have to reload the page for it to show up.

Syncing comments with wordpress would be great but as you also support other CMS some kind of automatic third party backup would be a good feature.Basically we just need a backup of our data under our control should anything happen to your system.Something like a backup to amazon s3 or similar.It would need to run automatically, either once a day or once a week.

Our mods mainly moderate on their phones but the console experience on mobile is not great. We have over 1.5 million comments going back 20 years. I was thinking it would be good to make let users be able to search our comment history.It would be a full site comment search, google for Hyvor ;-)You could search for key phrases and it would bring up any comments and the post.We have comment search in the console, just need to do a public version for users.

Something similar to disqus where the users could see a glimpse of the most read comments, the most voted, etc. This could be added with a simple script inserted into any page so we website magazines could use it to feature our community in some of our pages.

Sometimes I think it would be nice to add a discussion forum to our site but I don’t want users to have to re register. An interesting add on product could be hyvor forum. The forum would be managed in the console. <a target="_blank" rel="noopener noreferrer nofollow" class="text-blue-400 dark:text-blue-300 cursor-pointer" href="https://flarum.org/">https://flarum.org/</a> is a good one to copy. When you think about it a forum is very similar to comments, just pages are posts.

At our site, some users reply to other user's comments with something excellent. It would be great, and a benefit to us, if we could feature any comment, whether it's an initial comment, or a reply to another comment.

Uploading a profile photo from an iPhone seems unreliable. Could it be linked to supporting the heic photo format? I think you planned to use squoosh for image compression? Maybe it can handle the heic format?

When I go to a Hyvor-powered comment section, it always defaults to sorting by "best" comments. I change it each time to "latest". If it's remembering my ID, it would be nice if it remembered my preference too.

On our site users get into stupid arguments that go back and forth. We can give them a timeout but I thought it would be a nice feature to be able to ban a user from commenting anymore in a specific post.It would be a useful way to help reduce Moderation

We manually created badges and applied them to users on timeout but the issue was we would forget to remove the badges after the time out. It would be good if you could automatically apply badges to show when a user it on timeout or banned and more importantly remove the badges when the timeout has expired.

I can't find any info in the docs about the shortcuts, and the only key that does anything is 'n' which takes me to the new comment box. Would love keys for marking unread, next unread, etc.

What are the keyboard shortcuts for commenters?

The text box to add a new comment is always at the top of the comment section. Is it possible to move it or duplicate it at the bottom as well? This would make it easier to add a new thought after you have read everyone's comments.

We have a couple of obnoxious trolls who visit our site regularly. To keep them away, I turned off ‘guest commenting”.The problem with this is it keeps other potential new posters from posting without going into pending. I work a full time job and can’t see who falls into pending until sometimes hours later…and they don’t return.If I ban the trolls they just create a new account. If I have all guest comments and first time posters go into pending, again, it keeps the trolls away, but it turns off our new genuine people.Also, when the trolls have signed in as guests, we don’t have the ability to block them. The option isn’t there.I know this is all garbled but do you know what I’m saying?

Add top widget (reactions/ratings) configuration to the page level.I'm thinking we can add a feature to do this, but would it be better if we allow custom CSS via config? So, each page can have more control over its appearance, and, of course, the top widget can be hidden that way.
